How to Have the Cheapest Day at Magic Kingdom

Planning a trip to Magic Kingdom? If you’re on a budget, you’ll want to figure out how to save as much as possible. After all, Disney is already expensive — it helps to cut the cost where you can!

Today, we’re taking a look at how to spend as little as possible in Magic Kingdom — including tickets, meals, and more. Let’s get started!

Tickets

You’ll want to start by buying your tickets to Magic Kingdom. One-day tickets currently start at $109 for ages 10 and up. That price per day will go down as you add more days to your ticket. Also keep in mind that the cost per day varies depending on what day of the week/time of year you’re visiting, so your total could be well over $109.

You can also add the Park Hopper option to your ticket. That lets you hop to a different Disney park after 2PM. These are $65 per ticket for 1-day tickets. If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom for just one day, we wouldn’t recommend adding that Park Hopper ticket. The extra $65 doesn’t seem justifiable when there’s plenty to do in Magic Kingdom to last the whole day.

To save on your ticket, we’d recommend buying some Disney gift cards using a promotion like a Target RedCard. You’ll be able to save 5% on the cost of that gift card — which translates to a 5% discount on your tickets! That’s a little over $5 off your 1-day ticket. It may not seem like a lot, but those savings can really add up.

Meals

Once you’re in the park, your biggest cost will probably be meals. Of course, you can pack your own food, but what if you want to experience some Magic Kingdom eats? Well, we’ve got some options!

For a cheap breakfast, we’d recommend snagging something from Gaston’s Tavern (the Cinnamon Roll is delicious and costs under $7) or Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. Of course, you can also grab a breakfast sandwich from the Starbucks on Main Street, U.S.A., but expect a long line.

For lunch or dinner, we’d recommend Columbia Harbor House . They are reasonably priced, and offer more options than some of the standard burger and fry locations. Or head back to Sleepy Hollow Refreshments for the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich. It’s filling, shareable, and just $11.29.

Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of kids’ meals. You can get them for under $10 apiece, and if you have a smaller appetite, they may do the trick! You can easily eat a full three meals in Magic Kingdom for under $30. Disney on a budget: accomplished!

Add-On Experiences

There are a few experiences you can pay extra for once you’re in the park. These include downloads of your PhotoPass photos (or the Memory Maker package), pricey meals like Cinderella’s Royal Table, or Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

Cinderella’s Royal TableIf you want to spend as little as possible in the park, we’d recommend staying away from these add-ons. There’s plenty to do in the Magic Kingdom that won’t cost you any extra, from shows to rides to character encounters.

But if you have a little extra room in your budget, take a look at these offerings, and see if any fit your travel party. Then plan from there! For example, you could compensate for a Table Service dinner by packing your lunch and saving money there.

You will want to keep in mind that, if you aren’t staying on-property at a Disney World hotel and don’t have a higher-tiered Annual Pass, you’ll have to pay to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center. That currently costs $25 for the day! Make sure to add that into your budget if applicable. You could find a cheaper alternative with a rideshare service or a taxi, depending on how far from the park you’re staying.

If you buy the cheapest ticket (at $109 for the day) and stick with a meal budget of $30 per day — and if you’re staying on-property and don’t need to pay for parking — you can do a day in Magic Kingdom for $139.
