NEWS: Universal Orlando Removes Social Distancing Language from Guidelines

Earlier today, Universal Orlando announced that they would no longer be requiring that fully vaccinated guests wear a face mask both indoors and outdoors at the resort.

This update joined other changing health and safety guidelines in the parks including the removal of temperature checkpoints at park entrances and the reduction of physical distancing mandates. And, it seems that Universal may be relaxing their distancing policy further.

According to Universal’s website, they are now encouraging “all guests to keep a safe distance between travel parties.” This is a change from the language that was previously on the website, which stated that “Social Distancing between travel parties remains at three feet (1 meter).”

On our most recent visit to Universal, queues did still have distancing markers that were spaced 3 feet apart…

…and safety signage was around the park reminding guests of the distancing requirement.

We have yet to see these markers and signage removed, but the elimination of the language on the website may indicate that we could see Universal take them out of the parks soon.

Over at Disney World, we have seen physical distancing markers being removed from line areas that extend past the ride queues, though the language on Disney’s website remains that “Temporary adjustments are still in place to promote physical distancing.”
