Gone are the days when you need a MagicBand to get into the parks at Disney World!

Earlier this year Disney eliminated the complimentary MagicBand program for Disney World Resort hotel guests and introduced MagicMobile in the My Disney Experience app which turns your phone into your MagicBand. And, now another group of ticketholders will no longer receive free MagicBands.
Today, Disney sent an email to all current Walt Disney World Annual Passholders announcing that they will be discontinuing the complimentary MagicBand program on August 16th, 2021. The email began by highlighting the new MagicMobile service and some new Annual Passholder magnets that will be coming soon.

And, then Disney broke the news that they will no longer offer a free MagicBand with the purchase or renewal of an annual pass after August 16th, 2021, and beyond.

Annual Passholders will still have access to discounted MagicBands, much like Disney World Resort hotel guests. We will continue to keep an eye out for updates, so stay tuned!

Hi Mario, you can use one you already own! This is just the discontinuation of giving out more complimentary MagicBands, so you can still use one that you already have.
They do quit working after some time. There is a battery in them that will eventually go dead. Disney site says they are good for two years.
