We’ve been looking forward to EPCOT‘s upcoming space-themed restaurant for years now.

Space 220 will seemingly take guests to eat in space. This project has been delayed again, and again and now we’re starting to wonder if we’ll go to ACTUAL space before we ever eat at Space 220.
Will we be going to actual space before Space 220 opens?
Space 220 seems like it might keep getting delayed forever.
Space 220 is an in-progress restaurant with an entrance in the building that holds the Mission: SPACE attraction. When guests arrive they’ll board an elevator that will “take them up to space.”

The restaurant will then have special windows (really a series of massive curved screens) that show panoramic views of space while you dine. That’s pretty cool, but we have no idea when we’ll get to experience it.

Space 220 was originally announced way back in 2017 and has seen a lot of delays in progress since then. Now, four years later, we still don’t know an opening date for the spot.
We’re actually closing in on being able to go to actual space as tourists.
At the same time, outside of theme parks, engineering experts are hard at working closing in on space tourism. Yep, for actual space flight. Some of the goals have tourists headed to space as soon as a few years from now!

The first real space hotel, the Voyager Station, currently has a set opening period of 2027, per CNN. Another company, Virgin Galactic, is hard at work on a tourist-focused space plane, according to Inverse. Oh, and former Imagineer Joe Rohde is helping.

2027 might seem far off, but that’s not even the earliest promise of space travel. Two contests, Inspiration 4 and #dearMoon, both promise the chance for consumers to win a spot on a trip to the real moon. Dear Moon hopes to send folks to the moon in 2023 — just two years from now.

Experts deem the timeline for Dear Moon ambitious, but it shows that space travel might be more in our reach than we think. And Space 220 feels more and more out of reach by the month.
So, will we go to REAL space before Space 220?
Will we actually go to real space before we ever step foot in Space 220? Probably not, but it’s fun to think about! Space 220 has been something we’ve waited for four years, and with all these developments, we may be on the cusp of space travel.

Sure, if Space 220 continues to see lengthy delays and all goes to plan with some of the space tourism initiatives around the world — maybe you COULD end up in real space first. Hopefully, though, we don’t have to wait that long to see space views from the comfort of EPCOT.

I will be first in line to make my hotel space reservation!
Doesn’t seem too far removed from the other projects they announce. And, whenever any space tourism begins, it’ll be stupidly expensive, so there won’t be too many actually doing that.
I don’t want to go to actual space but I will lasso the moon for you if you want. Sorry that is my sappy lame Its A Wonderful Life reference.
I have no interest in going to real space. I am going to stay right here on earth. But I definitely can’t wait for Space 220. I would much rather see space from right here on earth. The delays are so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Why don’t they just open it already???????????? What is taking them so long???????????????????????????????
