Back in 2019, Disney announced the creation of its Disney Launchpad: Shorts Incubator program. This was designed to give up to six directors from underrepresented backgrounds the chance to produce original live-action short films.
Disney put a call out for applications to the public, encouraging diverse voices to apply — those chosen for the program were paired with mentors from the Walt Disney Company. The short films would eventually be shown on Disney+.
Now it’s time for those six directors’ visions to be seen. Disney+ announced that Launchpad Shorts would debut on the streaming service on May 28th.

According to the initial specs of the Launchpad Incubator program, some of these shorts could go on to further development. And if they do, we’ll be sure to let you know.
