The Spaceship Earth Glow Up Has BEGUN in EPCOT

Part of EPCOT’s transformation ahead of its 40th anniversary is the installation of new external lighting on Spaceship Earth. These lights will debut in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration, which is set to kick off on October 1st, 2021.

Imagineer Zach Riddley took to Instagram today to share photos of the first lighting fixture to be installed!

In the post’s caption, Zach Riddley states his excitement to “give you a first look at one of the points of light, as overnight our team test fit the very first of these fixtures before we start installing at the top and working our way down!”

Riddley also shares that the finished product will be a “poetic and inspirational lighting concept.”

Over the course of the next several months we’ll check in on the progress happening over at EPCOT as these lighting fixtures are added to the structure’s exterior!

  2. This is going to be amazingly beautiful when finished. I can’t wait to see how beautiful this is going to make all the icons of all the Disney Parks. The concept art looks absolutely beautiful!!!!!!
