If your next Walt Disney World vacation includes plans to stay on property (meaning, staying at one of Disney’s owned- and operated Resort hotels), there are a few critical factors to consider when deciding which to call “home” during your stay.

Disney World has three major categories of Resorts: Deluxe, Moderate, and Value. Deluxe Resorts, as the name implies, offer premium amenities, stellar dining options, and top tier accommodations — all for a premium price, of course. But there’s a bit of a Disney World Resort hack when it comes to getting these Deluxe accommodations at a more affordable price, and we aren’t talking about trying to snag a sale (although that is another way to do it).
Today, we’re talking about Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, the unsung hero of the Moderate Resorts!
Basic Overview
Coronado Springs is a convention Resort, meaning that they attract a lot of business travelers. With tons of convention space, you’ll often see guests dressed in business casual around the resort grounds. And with the addition of Gran Destino Tower in 2019, the Resort gained even MORE convention space, in addition to a stunning new tower of rooms, restaurants, and amenities.

Gran Destino Tower features a stunning design and aesthetic inspired by the artist Salvador Dali.

But since it’s a convention Resort, there are a lot of secret “Deluxe” accommodations and amenities. Coronado Springs is the ONLY Moderate Resort to have a full service fitness center and spa, La Vida Health Club, and has a second fitness center on the lower lobby level of the Tower, too! Both fitness centers and spa services are in all other instances exclusive to Deluxe Resorts! Coronado Springs also offers fitness classes throughout the day as well as weekly fun runs.

The Resort also has a full-service Business Center, available to all guests. Gran Destino Tower specifically has Club Level rooms, another service that you’ll only find at Deluxe Resorts outside of Coronado Springs.
Dining Options Galore for a Moderate Resort!
In general, every Moderate Resort at Disney World comes with one Table Service restaurant and a couple of Quick Service dining locations. Coronado Springs, however, has a whopping eleven choices when it comes to restaurants, in large part thanks to Gran Destino Tower, which added two lounges and one stellar rooftop Table Service restaurant. Three Bridges Bar & Grill and Rix Sports Bar & Grill offer a casual but slightly elevated atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a more laid back lounge vibe, check out Barcelona Lounge and Dahlia Lounge in Gran Destino. Barcelona is a coffee bar by morning and a wine and cocktail bar by afternoon through late night.

And for the ultimate dining experience, you can check out Toledo — Tapas, Steak, & Seafood, Coronado Springs’ rooftop restaurant!

Because Coronado Springs is considered a Moderate Resort, you can find standard rooms around $250 per night (compared to $300 to $400+ per night for standard rooms at Deluxe Resorts with similar amenities). Make no mistake, rooms here can and do get pricey. Suites in particular can run you several hundred dollars per night depending on the time of year you’re visiting, but if you know when and where to look, you can find a room at a reasonable rate.

A lot of people will write off Coronado Springs because it’s a convention Resort, and they don’t want to be surrounded by business people on their vacation, which we totally understand. But since there aren’t any conventions happening right now, 2021 may actually be a perfect time to give Coronado Springs Resort a try!
