Hello and welcome to the ever-changing EPCOT!
EPCOT is undergoing a massive transformation right now that includes new rides, a re-design of Future World into different “words,” new restaurants, and more. One of the new things that is coming as part of the transformation is a Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster! And today we noticed that some work was being done on the future home of this exciting attraction.
In late February, the building where Guardians of the Galaxy will be housed looked like this. Quite a lot of blue wrappings covered the top of the building, and there was some underneath that overhang as well.
When we passed by this area today, we noticed that there was more construction going on! You can see the individuals in the photo below who appeared to be actively working on the construction.
There was quite a lot of blue wrapping on the building. It appears that a bit more of the area that was just wood paneling before is starting to get covered with the blue wrapping, or at least some individuals are actively working on moving this construction along.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will feature groundbreaking ride vehicles and technology. We’ve alreday gotten a small peek at the vehicles and how they’ll move and it is impressive!
The ride will also feature a reverse launch into space! It was originally expected to open in 2021 as part of the 50th Anniversary, but an update has not yet been provided in terms of its construction schedule.
Due to the pandemic, it is possible that this ride will be delayed. But, we’re on the lookout for any updates and we’ll let you know what we find. In the meantime, we’ll also continue to stop by this spot to see how construction progresses.

Yesterday (March 10) when Chapek talked about the opening of the Ratatouille ride at EPCOT, he said that there would be no new attractions opening this year after that opening. So looks like we are waiting until 2022 for this coaster and Tron to open. 🙁
