Ever since the Walt Disney World parks reopened, they’ve been operating at a lower capacity.

When the parks first reopened, the limit was set at 25%, which later went up to 35%. Disney has controlled their crowds with the use of the Disney Park Pass system, requiring guests to make theme park reservations ahead of their visit. Even though we know the capacity limits, Disney hasn’t really shared why they choose those numbers…until now!
On today’s Q1 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek shared that the capacity in the parks is going to be determined by the rate of vaccinations in the public.

The vaccination rate is their main gauge for increasing capacity in their currently open parks, and in parks that will be reopening in the future. Chapek went on to say that “we have ample demand for our parks,” and that “we’ve made a pretty big impression on our consumer base and prospective guests in terms of safety measures to give assurances to people that they should come and bring their families.”

There is currently more demand for the vaccines than there is supply, so until they get more thoroughly distributed, it’s likely that we’ll still see these capacity limits and regulations in the theme parks. Currently, Disneyland Resort is home to a vaccination site, helping aid Orange County, CA in vaccinating its residents.

“as well as their measure for reopening parks that are temporarily closed”
Not true. They’re only closed if the government mandates it.
