Musical theater fans are in for a surprise!
If you’re getting tired of watching Hamilton on Disney+ over and over again, there’s another Broadway musical that will be making its way into theaters this year!
According to Variety, Universal’s adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen will debut in theaters on September 24th, 2021! The star-studded cast includes Ben Platt as Evan Hansen and Amy Adams who will play Cynthia Murphy, the mother of Hansen’s classmate Connor.
If you’re not familiar with the musical, Dear Evan Hansen is an award-winning Broadway show that follows the story of a high schooler (Evan Hansen) who has social anxiety. When a classmate commits suicide, Hansen finds himself wrapped up in a lie when one of his letters is mistaken as his classmate’s.
The musical was an instant hit when it made its debut on Broadway and we’re excited that we now have an official date for the movie!
