R2-D2

While a lot of Star Wars merchandise and stories might focus on those who are Jedi Masters or Sith Lords, we can’t forget about those fantastic droids. These droids have played SUPER important roles throughout Star Wars and even saved our favorite heroes a time or two. Well, if you’re a fan of these special intergalactic companions, then you’re going to LOVE the new stamps that will be released soon!

The United States Postal Service has announced that 10 new stamps inspired by some of your favorite droids from Star Wars will be released soon! The droids that will be featured on these stamps are IG-11, R2-D2, K-2SO, D-O, L3-37, BB-8, C-3PO, a GNK (or Gonk) power droid, 2-1B surgical droid and C1-10P, commonly known as “Chopper.”

The characters are featured against backgrounds representing the settings of some of their most memorable adventures. These droids are a nod to the dedication of Lucasfilm and Disney to science, technology, engineering, and math.

The droid stamps were designed by Greg Breeding and William Gicker was the art director for them. The USPS press release notes that the stamps will be coming “this spring.” More details about these stamps and their issue date will be announced later this year.

We’ll definitely keep an eye out for more details and let you know what we see. As always, may the Force be with you.
