Disney Pic of the Week: Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort was Walt Disney World’s most notable resort when it opened in 1971. Images of the monorails entering and leaving the resort are still used today by Disney in their advertising.

Back in 2009, I was able to ride in the front of a monorail to the Magic Kingdom. I photographed along the way as we approached the Contemporary Resort . Sadly, guests are no longer able to ride in the front of monorails for safety reasons.

  1. We’ve stayed at the Wilderness Lodge 4 times, starting with our honeymoon back in 1997. We’ll be there again in October.
