To some, Walt Disney World isn’t just a theme park, it’s home!
Many guests make frequent trips to Florida to get their fill of Disney magic. Some visitors love to hop from resort to resort. While others pick one resort as their home base and return time and time again. We asked our readers one simple but difficult question: “If you could stay anywhere on Disney World property, what hotel would you pick?”
Answers ranged from Value all the way to Deluxe Resorts. Check out what Disney World resorts guests would love to visit!
We compiled a few of our reader’s responses from our Facebook page to give you an idea of the fan-favorite resorts on Disney World property. Hopefully, it will help you pick your resort stay for your next vacation!
One thing is for sure, we got a TON of votes from Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Tristan loved the Wilderness Lodge because it has a ton of great amenities and is close to the Magic Kingdom. He explained that the resort is just “a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom, but more tucked away and private than the monorail resorts. I also like their pool bar and restaurants. I have never stayed there, but have visited as a day guest, and I love the rustic aesthetic.”
Candy would love to visit the resort in fond memory of her mother. She responded, “Wilderness Lodge, my mom ALWAYS wanted to stay there for one of our trips but we could never afford it. I lost her in 2017 right after we got back from a Disney vacation. And I WILL at some time get to stay there for her.”
Lindsay would make her resort choice based on the nostalgia from her College Program internship with Disney, but ultimately her final decision is based on her family interests! “So I dream to stay at a suite at the Grand Floridian and did my CP there doing turndown in the main building, it would be a full circle moment. ? But I have little kids, so another one like the Polynesian would probably be much better suited for us.”
Gina also agreed that the Grand Floridian is her first choice because “it’s just beautiful and very elegant. It’s also a monorail ride or boat ride away from the magic kingdom, and a two monorail ride away from EPCOT!”
The majority of our readers would love to stay the Polynesian for the view of the castle and fun atmosphere. Tammy hits it home when she said that she loved “the ambiance and architecture. Truly feels like I have gone to the Islands. Especially like that it is on the monorail stops and …dole whips. ? “ We agree, we’d absolutely stay at the Polynesian for easy access to Dole Whips!
Kerry would love to return to the Polynesian for a chance to relive her childhood vacation. She stated, “I stayed there when I was 6 years old with my grandparents who took me to Disney for the first time in 1986. A special trip and would love to stay there again someday.”
Not everyone chose the Deluxe Resorts! Some guests love the feeling of staying in a Disney themed Value or Moderate Resort. There were many, many votes for Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and French Quarter.
Jason loved the idea of staying at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas, but followed up with the fact that he still loves Port Orleans! “I have dreamed of an extended stay at the treehouses but I am always happy and comfortable with any room on the top floor of Port Orleans French Quarter near the boat launch/pool area.“
A lot of Disney fans love the Value Resorts like Disney’s Art of Animation and the three All-Star Resorts. Jennifer stated that the hotel fits her budget and most of her time is spent in the parks anyway! “I always stayed at the all-star hotels because it was Disney at an affordable price because I don’t stay in my room much!”
And some readers couldn’t decide on just one resort! Terry said that “I’ve always wanted to stay at the Poly. But I’d take Animal Kingdom for the views. I think a lot of people forget the Wilderness Lodge too! Oh wait! Was I supposed to pick just one???” We feel you, Terry! There are SO many good choices!
The great thing about a Disney World vacation is that there are a ton of resorts to choose from. The varying themes and price levels give guests plenty of options for their stay. And if Disney isn’t your style, there are a lot of off-property hotels to choose from!

When I’m planning a trip for just me and my wife and possibly adult daughter, there is only one option: Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jambo House, Savannah view. We love waking up to see the animals while enjoying our hot beverage of choice. And likewise when we return to the lodge. We love the African inspired theme of the lodge, and we love eating at Boma most days for breakfast (plus Boma at least one night). We are not Jiko fans.
While we also like Sanaa over at the Kidani Village section of AKL, not having Boma immediately available for breakfast was a drag, and prompted us to just stay at Jambo house.
Many years ago, when it was just Port Orleans, the resort at Port Orleans French Quarter was our favorite. We stayed once at Port Orleans Riverside (previously Dixie Landings) and just did not like the vibe of it. The mixture of Southern Plantation and Faux Cajan just rubbed us the wrong way, while the New Orleans vibe in French Quarter was more inclusive to our tastes.
We have stayed at both the Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge once, and enjoyed ourselves both times. Though I suspect if we could only pick one and AKL was not available, it would be the Polynesian. My wife isn’t as into the Wilderness Lodge theme as I am.
Now, when we go with an extended family trip such as we had planned for 2020, we will stay at the All Stars to save money.
The Grand Floridian never interested me, particularly when I discovered that most of the rooms are not in the big building. Only guests paying the $$$$ get those rooms.
I have always stayed at Value or Moderate resorts. But after spending a week at Animal Kingdom Lodge: Kidani Village I’m not sure I’ll ever go back! It was the most beautiful, surreal place. Our room was a 30 second walk to the lobby and was right next to one of the giraffe feeding stations. Every morning we woke up to giraffes, wildebeest, ostriches, even a nursing baby zebra right outside our room. We spent hours just sitting there with a coffee. The resort was quiet, the pool was amazing, and we didn’t find the bus rides to be inconvenient at all! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Definitely request a room near the lobby.
When anyone asks me where to stay, I always suggest the Beach Club, the Boardwalk, the Yacht Club the Swan or the Dolphin. I do so because you always have a nice place to walk around , there are nice restaurants on the Boardwalk, you can walk to Epcot or the Studios or (with a park hopper) walk through Epcot and take the Monorail to the Magic Kingdom. And with park hopper you can walk into Epcot just for dinner and the fireworks and just walk back to your resort. If we don’t stay there the other place we like is Saratoga Springs. Close to Disney Springs by boat or by walking and trails to take you to Old Key West for a nice walk.
Stayed at all star movies, caribbean beach and pop century twice. Pop is my choice.
