Since Chef Mickey’s first reopened back in July, the restaurant has been operating without appearances from the characters.
But that will be changing soon! Disney announced that the characters will be returning to Chef Mickey’s beginning on December 16th. That means Chef Mickey’s will soon join Topolino’s Terrace, Garden Grill, and Hollywood and Vine as one of the few character dining experiences available in Disney World.
Reservations for the first day of the return of character dining at Chef Mickey’s were set to open today at 6AM on the My Disney Experience app and 7AM on the Disney World website.
But even though we were ready to go right at 6AM, we realized that there were no reservations available at Chef Mickey’s on December 16th. We even tried selecting different times and different party sizes, but no luck.
We reached out to Disney and the Cast Member we spoke with confirmed that the reservations for December 16th at Chef Mickey’s were already completely booked by Disney World Resort hotel guests. Since hotel guests are able to book dining reservations up to 10 days after their check-in date, they are able to snag reservations earlier than the standard 60-day window for non-hotel guests.
The Cast Member suggested that we continue to check the My Disney Experience app in case anyone changes or cancels their current dining reservation. So, it looks like a lot of guests are excited about the return of characters at Chef Mickey’s!

I know some folks find Chef Mickey’s a little loud and chaotic, but we love it!! A classic!!! So glad the characters are returning!
