Two of Disneyland’s Most Popular Shows Will Reportedly Not Reopen in the Parks

Disneyland has been putting plans in place for reopening its theme parks with additional health and safety measures already. However, California Governor Newsom has stated that there’s no certain timeline when California theme parks will be brought back as the current health crisis continues to evolve.

Although Disney has started to provide free COVID-19 testing to its current employees, the company recently began a round of layoffs with 28,000 Cast Members being let go.

While Disney World has had to see entertainment like the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra and Yehaa Bob play their final shows, attractions like For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration have reopened to fans in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

However, many Cast Members and sources from Orange County Register have announced that two of its most popular shows in the parks will not be returning. According to the American Guild of Variety Artists West, end of run notices have been received by actors for Mickey and the Map in Disneyland and Frozen Live at the Hyperion in Disney California Adventure.

AGVA West Disneyland representative Steve Rosen claimed that Frozen: Live at the Hyperion and Mickey and the Magical Map could possibly make a return. He stated that “an end of run notice means ‘technically’ that the shows are permanently closed, but Disney has sent end of run notices in the past and then subsequently reopened the show.”

Disney has not officially announced the closing of both shows or clarified whether this is a temporary closure. As California officials continue to make decisions about the re-opening of theme parks, we’ll keep you updated with everything you need to know.

These are the health and safety measures Disneyland has adopted ahead of its re-opening!

  1. This is terrible news. We enjoyed both shows. The last time we were there, late February this year, there was an unexpected bonus. When Christoph and Anna kissed a young boy, six or seven, said quite out loud “Yuck, that’s gross!”
The entire section up at the top of the balcony broke out laughing. The rest of the audience was trying to figure out why.
