This week has been difficult for many of the wonderful Cast Members in Disney World and Disneyland as 28,000 employees receive notice of layoffs.

While both unionized and non-unionized Cast Members will be a part of this, unions have continued to update their members about what will be happening moving forward. Workers United Local 50 has been one of the groups to monitor the situation and provide detailed information about the layoffs within their union.
In another Facebook post, President Chris Duarte has broken down the number of layoffs and which Cast Members would be included in them. He stated that “Out of 7,796 Cast Members, the company has determined that they need to lay off 2,858 of our members.”

Many of the layoffs that Workers United Local 50 have discussed appear to be in Disneyland currently. The full list of layoffs that Workers United Local 50 have received at this time can be viewed below:

As The Orange County Register notes and as the chart above details, the layoffs include more than 40 chefs, cooks, stewards, and more from Club 33. Additionally, nearly 1,200 Cast Members from quick service restaurants in Disneyland Resort, over 1,300 Cast Members from Disneyland Resort’s table service restaurants, and another 300-plus Cast Members working at Disney’s outdoor vending food carts will also be affected by the layoffs. These layoffs will ultimately affect more than 400 full-time Cast Members from the Workers United Local 50 union.

According to a statement made by the president of Workers United Local 50 via Facebook, “[c]ompared to other unions, Local 50 looks to be one of the few unions that has full-time cast members on their list of layoffs.” But, the president noted that the Workers United layoff details are tentative and subject to change. According to The Orange County Register, the Unions that represent many of the Disneyland Cast Members are beginning to see how their members will be affected. The layoffs are set to take effect on “November 1st, with health benefits continuing through the end of the year, according to the union.” Additionally, the union has said that “Disneyland employees recalled within a year will keep their seniority.”

As Disney and other unions release more information about the upcoming layoffs, we’ll provide you with additional news and details.
