Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween

Scott shared, “Halloween, and especially MNSSHP, are big for us. We go every year, and make very elaborate costumes (two years ago, we went as Hector and Imelda and Disney saw us and put us on tv). Last year we decided to go as Prince Ali and the Magic Carpet (she didn’t want to be Jasmine).”

“While making the costumes, an image popped into my head of her covering her face with the tassels of the carpet if I proposed. Then I had the idea of making the genie’s lamp the ring box. I hadn’t planned on proposing, but it was just too perfect to pass up. So I went out and got a ring, and hired a photographer to be there to make sure we got that shot I had imagined. She had no idea about any of this.”

“Well as usual, we were working on the costumes even up until the day we would wear them. We’re in the hotel room, sewing and gluing, and it’s getting late, and we have to meet the photographer. So I’m rushing her and she’s getting angry at me, again not knowing about any of what is planned. We rush off to the party, easily an hour late, and she’s not really happy with me. I keep insisting on wanting to take a picture down by the castle and she’s getting more annoyed as I get closer and closer through a crowd (because that’s where the photographer is). We get to him and I ask if he can take our picture.”

“Then I turn, drop one knee, open the lid of the lamp, and there is the ring. And it’s exactly as I had pictured it in my mind. Her the tassels are covering a look of complete shock and joy on her face. The now large crowd that had gathered for the stage show all start to cheer and whistle. All night long we had people come and congratulate us saying they saw it happen. It really was magical.”

Cinderella Royal Table

Reader Lex shared, “My fiancé proposed at Cinderella’s Royal Table in November 2019. He organized everything through a Disney Fairytale Weddings planner behind my back. The kicker though was he actually had my mom fly down to surprise me AFTER the proposal (we’re from Canada)! She met us at the front entrance when he told me to just look around at the people.”

“I obviously had no clue about any of this, I was just excited that when we showed up for lunch we had a window seat!! Once I saw a photographer enter the restaurant and our waiter come directly to me with the big ceramic plate with the shoe under the top, I knew what was happening! It was so incredible.”

Club Villain

Amanda shared, “Club Villain! The only proposal that happened at that party and it was fully organized by the man in charge of the party (shout out to Gene!) and my fiancé (now husband). They added our proposal into the schedule of the event, we even got these exclusive photos with the cast after all of the other guests left and we were last to leave the park, we even got a private bus to take us back to our hotel.”

Cinderella Castle

Our reader Viviana shared, “My husband joined the Navy so I hadn’t seen him for a while. He then came home come home in December of 2019. Our families always celebrate big for Christmas Eve but never really do anything for Christmas Day, so me and my husband decided to have a Christmas date at Disneyland. We woke up super early to go only for the reason to take pictures in front of the castle and In front of the Christmas tree ( oh and I forgot to mention, I had never visited Disneyland on Christmas Day, so I was super excited) once we got to the castle, he proposed to me, he always knew I wanted to get proposed in front of the castle so for him to remember that after 5 years, it still gives me butterflies!”

Reader Kaitlyn wrote, “We had planned our first ever Disney World trip together, and I had no idea a proposal was in the works. My then boyfriend hid the ring in a compartment in our backpack. Said compartment zipper broke after security check and he panicked hiding the ring in his pocket. I asked if we could take a picture in front of Cinderella Castle, he picked the best spot. After the cast member took a couple photos, he asked if she could take one more on his phone. I thought why on your phone? But as he handed the phone over to her he asked if she could record because he was going to propose. As he stood by my side and we prepared to take “the picture”, he said hold on I forgot something. He turned, looked at me, got down on one knee and held the ring out asking if I would marry him! Through the tears I said yes!”

I was ready to rope drop 7 dwarves but he said let’s take some pictures in front of the castle while it’s early and there’s not a lot of people…little did I know! We also got some really cute character pictures that day! It was truly the best day ever!”

Reader Jay shared, “I called my then girlfriend and said meet me at the TTC in your little black dress…we head toward the monorails and I take her hand and lead her to EPCOT…we walk through future world and then into World Showcase…up the stairs we go to Monsieur Paul…we begin with spectacular salads topped with The cheese of kings (Roquefort)…we order Chicken Cordon Bleu and a filet…we have glasses of bubbly and watch Illuminations. When dessert comes the plate says ‘veux-tu m’épouser?’. Upon the dish is a chocolate sphere filled with pink sugar…inside lay her engagement ring…I got down on one knee…through tears she said yes!”

  1. While on a Family Disney vacation we had decided to split off from the rest of the group! We decided to go see the Indiana Jones stunt show! Somehow we were both randomly picked from an audience of 1600 people to be extras during the show! Obviously both super excited, I on the other hand had no idea he had an engagement ring in his pocket! He actually stopped in the middle of the show, got on one knee & asked me to marry him! Of coarse i said yes… Disney is my life & he is my world!

  2. We visited Disney Land April 1, 2018 (my birthday) with our family. It was our first time and I wanted to take as many pictures as possible so I’m constantly telling my then Boyfriend to stop and selfie with me. He was getting short on patience (let’s face it, I took TONS of pictures!) and it was crowded and warmer than normal. Finally, we are at the Magic Kingdom and he turns to me, grabs my hand and drags me inside the taped lines. I thought this is it, we’re going to get escorted out of here. But we take a couple pictures and I’m looking for security and walking away when he grabs my hand and pulls me back to him. He looks right at me and says you know I love you, right? I’m like yes, now come on before they kick us out!!! He says you know I want to spend the rest of my life with you, right? At this point, I’m practically ready to run for it – let’s face it, I’m not trying to be the first person kicked out of the Magic Kingdom! I turn around and this man is one one knee, ring up…and says marry me. In front of probably 2,000 people. I stand there like a guppy, mouth moving, and all I can say is yes!!! He stands up, kisses me, and everyone starts cheering and clapping. Best. Day. Ever.

We went on to get married on HIS birthday, a year later. Thanks Disney for the best memories ever!
