Today it was announced that another Disney World Resort hotel has changed its reopening date until next year.

Disney has shared that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will not be reopening until Summer 2021.

Originally slated for an October 4th, 2020 reopening, the schedule adjustment has been done so that the hotel can have refurbishment work done, which will include enhancements to both guest rooms and the Great Ceremonial House. This work is expected to begin in October.

  1. I have two reservations impacted by this closure – one starting 10/31. The email, which I just got 30 minutes ago says they’ll contact me 4 weeks before check in to let me know what hotel they assigned me to. What a load of BS – do I want to be randomly stuck somewhere with no say? Don’t these folks think their guests deserve a say in this? I’m so peeved with Disney right now for always taking, and not having anything to give back. Seriously folks, you need some lessons in customer care right now.

    1. Kathy – You can call and choose another available resort right now. (1-407-560-24-28) You don’t have to wait for Disney to contact you. We had Jan. 2021 reservations for club level at the Poly, and I called an switched to a Villa studio room instead. We actually ended up several thousand dollars cheaper that we can now spend on food. Just a reminder that Villas and Bungalows can be booked by non DVC guests, and there is a greater variety of those types of rooms available now. The Poly should be quiet with only the DVC rooms open.

      1. I’ve had two reservations affected by WDW keeping Poly closed. Chose Poly because we like it there, the “reaccommodations… at no additional cost” save me money but also puts me in a less desirable room/hotel. Not what I had in mind when I booked each trip and as a long time AP I am getting close to not renewing when the current one expires (never thought I’d say/type that but that’s where I’m at with their decision making). BTW, I had two trips affected with closure & ‘phased reopening’ where I was reaccommodated or canceled – I was ok with those b/c of the circumstances surrounding each. My two Poly reservations… not ok with them.
