Four Tips for Visiting Walt Disney World with Kids in 2020

While the COVID-19 worldwide health crisis is still ongoing, all four Walt Disney World theme parks are officially open once again after starting a phased reopening. The Resort is still not back up to full speed as some Resort hotels have had their reopening dates delayed, but the important thing for most will be that you can finally sail on to Neverland on Peter Pan’s Flight and enjoy a Mickey pretzel again!

Of course, Disney World is one of the best vacation destinations for families with little kiddos, so you might already be planning a return to the Most Magical Place on Earth for you and your family as we speak. That’s why we’re here to help with a few friendly tips for traveling to the World with kids this year.

Here are four tips to consider when travelling to Disney World in 2020 with kids!

Have a Conversation

Maybe this is your first trip or maybe you’ve been around the World block a few times. Regardless, 2020 has completely changed the game when it comes to how Disney World will be operating for the time being, and it might be helpful to have a conversation to set expectations with your kids before, during, or after you’ve planned out your Disney World getaway.

Now this tip is predicated on your children being a little bit older, but kids are actually pretty smart cookies, so it’s worth it to chat with kids of any ages. Sit them down, and explain to them that this trip might be a little bit different because they might not get to do everything exactly like they used to (or exactly like they see it in YouTube videos).

Read up on the Policy Updates

This one’s pretty easy because you’re already reading this! It cannot be said enough how different Disney World feels right now because of the changes Disney has made to promote health and safety.

Bring Some Snackies In With You

You’ve been able to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages into the Parks with you for…ever. But in 2020’s Disney World, it might be an essential thing for you if you’re really trying to be mindful of contact points. The Social Distancing Squad Wants You…to keep 6 feet away at all times ©Disney

Not only will bringing in some snacks and water keep your energy levels up during the mid-day slog, it can keep your kids appeased and also help limit how much time you’re spending inside shops and restaurants around other guests and Cast Members.

Don’t Forget The Essentials

Another packing tip: don’t forget to bring face coverings and hand sanitizer with you into the Parks. As part of their initial reopening guidelines, Disney is requiring that all guests two and up wear face coverings while visiting Disney World.

Rock those face masks!

While Disney has increased their cleaning and put more hand sanitizer stations inside the Parks, it never hurts to have more on hand (and easily accessible no matter where you are). Apply hand sanitizer to you and your kids as liberally as you see fit to contain the spread.
