This week, the NBA began to arrive at Disney World ahead of the resumption of their season, which is set to kick off on July 30 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
USA Today has reported that while the players, coaches, and staff are living inside their “campus bubble” through the end of the season, Disney and the NBA have made arrangements to offer many special perks and activities in the theme parks and throughout the Disney World Resort.
NBA Players will have first access to these experiences, and coaches and staffers will also be able to sign up for additional availability. Arrangements have been made to offer after-hours access to Rock N Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Test Track at EPCOT, and Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Other Disney World experiences are available to those participating in the NBA season, including Golf at three different courses with tee times available throughout the day, six days a week.
Players and staffers can also sign up for bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes, as well as fishing and boating trips. Extra amenities are available at the resorts, including player lounges with video games, pool tables, tennis courts, and bikes.

I’ll never understand this move by Disney, with the exception of the blatant money grab. At a time when Disney should be catering to their loyal guest, they instead block out whole resorts to house NBA players who will play to an empty arena. This could have been done in the middle of nowhere with the same results for the NBA. Instead, Disney welcomes them with open arms while apparently closing parks earlier than necessary to allow these players to go ride rides. We are all anxious to get back to Disney, but with the same or higher ticket prices for a shorter day with NO park hopping, NO parades, NO fireworks, etc., we guests may surprise Disney when we suffer the last straw breaking and become disenfranchised with the Mouse House.
Just curious if the MLS athletes, coaches and staff are getting the same perks. Would seem appropriate!

How about giving the real Disney fans some perks.
Another example of Disney selling out and catering to the rich and famous. I’ve visited Disney dozens of times with my friends and family but they’ve never instituted a rewards or membership program. I’m about done. Visiting will never be the same after COVID anyhow. Will spend my dollars elsewhere.
I wish they would worry about AP’s and long time guests as much as they are about the NBA players who have already made fun of the food they were offered at the beginning.
How much more can they possibly give them. Do they really even need to do as much as they are for them.
