According to Variety, Disney will be developing a new docuseries based on former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick as part of a first-look real between Disney and Kaepernick’s Ra Vision Media production company.

The new first-look deal was announced today, with plans to develop both scripted and unscripted stories “that deal with race, social injustice and the quest for equity, and work to showcase directors and producers of color.” The agreement will extend across Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Hulu, Pixar, and ESPN’s The Undefeated.

In a statement, Disney’s executive chairman, Bob Iger, shared that Kaepernick’s experience “gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of sports, culture and race, which will undoubtedly create compelling stories that will educate, enlighten and entertain, and we look forward to working with him on this important collaboration.”
