Breaking Down the Disney Park Pass System for Passholders!

How does the Disney Park Pass system work?

While the Disney Park Pass reservation system opened up to Disney World Resort hotel guests with a valid ticket earlier this week, the system is now open for Passholders as well! We’ve broken down a step by step process of HOW the system works below!

Take a step by step look at just how this new system works here!

Can I book my 3 park reservations on top of the days of my hotel reservation?

Disney has said that “When the system opens, all Passholders will be eligible to make theme park reservations for up to three days at a time. Or, Annual Passholders staying at select Disney Resort or other select hotels with valid theme park admission will be eligible to make theme park reservations for each day of their stay(s). For example, if an Annual Passholder has three five-night reservations, they will be able to hold up to 15 theme park reservations at one time.”

It’s important to note that if you have an Annual Pass and a hotel reservation, you do not have to make all of your reservations during your stay. For example, if you have a five night stay in July, the system will allow you to make three reservations in July, and two in August.

Our team members who have tried to book park reservations on top of the number of days of their hotel reservation have been met with a screen telling them they have reached their maximum amount of passes.

However, we have heard from readers that this is not always the case. Some readers have reported that they have been able to book for the length of their stay, plus an additional three days.

As this is not what Disney had directly reported, this could potentially be an issue in the system that they are still working out.

How far out can you make your park reservation at Disney World?

Currently, you can make Disney Park Pass through September 26th, 2021, based on “your Resort stay and ticket eligibility or ticket eligibility window.”

For guests that have a room-only reservation for 2021 at a Disney Resort hotel (or other select hotels), Disney has stated that you may call the Disney Reservation Center, or your travel professional to “upgrade to a vacation package with tickets” so that you may make your theme park reservations.

Will you be able to park-hop when Disney World reopens?

Park-hopping will be temporarily unavailable when the parks reopen, and guests will be limited to selecting one park per day.

Am I able to leave a park and come back to the same one later that day?

Yes! A Cast Member has confirmed with us that if you make a reservation for one park, you may leave and return to that same park later in the day.

What happens if I book the wrong park? Can I modify?

At this time, Disney has said that there is no option to modify your park reservation. Instead, you will need to cancel your reservation and rebook at another park.

I got my extended my Annual Pass due to the closure, but it isn’t reflect yet. Can I book a Disney Park Pass reservation during my extended period of time?

While Disney World has offered to extend Passholders expiration date by the time of the closure (the other option is a partial refund), if that new expiration date is not reflected in your account yet, you will not be able to book past your original expiration date.

4 Replies to “Breaking Down the Disney Park Pass System for Annual Passholders!”

  1. I have a trip booked for the 1st full week in October and will be staying at one of the non-Disney owned resorts within DisneyWorld. Unfortunately with the new reservation system I’ve only been able to book 3 days of park reservations. I would think annual pass holders should be able to make park reservations for your whole stay no matter where your staying. Secondly Disney originally said annual pass holders would have their passes extended by the number of days that the parks have been closed, now they say they are only going extend them by 30 days. It seems we are getting the “short end of the stick” all the way around.

  2. We are among those DVC members that have Annual Passes but had not purchased tickets for extended family members prior to the shut down. We have onsite reservations at SSR but have been left in limbo for 2020 tickets. ?

  3. We have rooms booked at Wilderness Lodge beginning October first. There is no date listed when Wilderness Lodge will open and ir is still showing as booked on my account. I have been on hold for three days in a row and had to finally hang up.
We are all platinum passholders. Do I just wait for an email from Disney. It is a special birthday for my husband and wè made these reservations over a year ago so if we have to change hotels, it would be nice to know our options.

  4. Will pass holders be able to book monthly 3 day reservations? Example: we have booked/reserved 3 days for September, once we visit in September will we be able to book 3 days in October, and so forth? We normally visit Disney every month September through December. If this isn’t the case a partial refund may be the better option.
