Disney World’s Advance Reservation System Could Be in Place Through 2021

With the grand reopening of Disney World now less than one month away, guests are eager to learn more about the advance reservation system that will be in place.

In addition to learning more about the intricacies of the system, many are wondering just how long this system will be in place.

Reporter Scott Gustin tweeted about conversations he has been having with various travel agencies based in the United Kingdom. According to Gustin, the current plan is for the reservation system to remain in effect “through 2021.”

The system is still in development and more details regarding how it will work for guests remains unclear at this time. But with certain measurements like limited capacity all but certain for quite some time, it makes sense that Disney will need to have a reservation system in place that can last for several months, or even longer.

Keep in mind that we have no idea what the system actually looks like yet, but with the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom kicking off their grand reopening in less than a month, we expect to hear more in the coming weeks. So stay tuned for more updates as we hear them!

  1. I’ve been saving for 2 years to bring my family to Disney world only to have them cancel my reservation and now there’s going to be a reservation requirement? Really whatever happened to our freedom? Makes me NOT want to go now.

    1. True, but remember that people’s lives and health amidst a global health crisis is more important than a person’s “freedom” to visit a Disney Park.

  2. I understand the need to control the crowds but something needs to be done for passholders. Part of the perk of having it is making a spontaneous trip whenever you want. And I live in Jacksonville, that thought is even more the case for those in the immediate Orlando area. Knowing that they will have to control the crowds and may have to limit Passholder availability they should lower the annual Passholder cost. But we all know they aren’t likely to do that but do something.

  3. So what if we monthly pay passholders don’t feel we are getting access enough to the reservation system parks. Will we be given a choice to end our agreement?

  4. I have resch June reservations to July 17th-24th and I am here to tell you ..I am freaking out over the lack of information and the uncertainty ! I understand this is a big deal, changing the way Disney operates but come on. There has to be more they can tell us, we need time to digest and make choices. Please Disney, don’t leave us hanging till the last minute.

    1. I agree, Deb Bella. I think the lack of communication from Disney regarding the reservation system and other details is appalling. We have spent thousands to go to Disney, and they provide any clarity on what the parks will be like for guests? They need to release this information immediately instead of having people in limbo over whether or not to cancel their reservation.
