The Academy Awards ceremony typically takes place in in the first few months of the year, celebrating the best films of the year past.

This year, the schedule for the ceremony is a little different.
According to CNBC, the 93rd Academy Awards will be delayed from its original February 28th, 2021 date to instead to place in April.

The delay is being done due to the current global health crisis, which has shut down movie theaters and caused many movie studios to significantly delay release dates.

Along with the ceremony being postponed, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will also be extending their submission deadline for films. Instead of cutting off on December 31st, the submission deadline has been extended through February 28th, 2021.

They should just cancel the Oscars entirely. Why are these people so important that they need to spend millions and millions on awarding themselves… for acting? Let’s honor those that actually do important things, like save lives, develop vaccines, teach our children.
