Earlier today, Disney World proposed their phased reopening plan to the Orange County Task Force, with a proposed reopening date of July 11th for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, with EPCOT and Hollywood Studios to follow on July 15th.

Prior to the parks’ reopening, however, Disney World plans to reopen their Disney Vacation Club Resort Hotels starting on June 22nd, along with Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds.
A recent email sent to Disney Vacation Club members outlined their planned reopening for Disney Vacation Club Resorts at Disney World, and also provided insight on some frequently asked questions about guidelines the hotels will be implementing.

Specifically, the email notes that, “Like our Cast, all Members and guests will be asked to wear face coverings in public resort areas when not eating or drinking and to respect physical distancing.” This confirms that guests at the Disney World will be asked to wear face coverings in any public areas at both hotels and at the theme parks.

Additionally, the email outlined other health and safety precautions that will be implemented by the hotels. These include:
- Enhanced cleaning of all rooms prior to arrival, including additional measures for dishware and appliances for Disney Vacation Club units, along with the standard Disney Vacation Club housekeeping services during your stay
- Increased cleaning and sanitization in high-traffic areas
- New hand-sanitizing stations in key areas
- Physical distancing at restaurants, lobbies, pools, fitness centers and other public areas, including reducing capacity where appropriate

Stay tuned as we bring new updates from the reopening of Disney World, as well as the Disney World Resort Hotels.

Connie is right. The CDC (Center for Disease Control)and WHO (World Health Organization) disagree on whether it is necessary to wear a mask as of last check in May (check each site). Perception is Disney’s speciality. Good thought John, never thought of that.
I already know one family that goes to WDW twice a year who just cancelled their August trip because of the face masks, no Fast Pass or dining reservations and lack of Extra Magic Hours.
In my opinion all these decisions are designed to get people to cancel. The simple truth is that Disney cannot operate at anywhere near capacity for the foreseeable future ( maybe into 2021 ) so they need cancellations. Their next step could very well be to arbitrarily start cancelling existing reservations to get them down to 50% capacity at Resorts and Parks. I’m more surprised that people would make or keep reservations under the current conditions “hoping” that things will change by the end of Summer. Until there is a viable vaccine or infections drop dramatically things will not change.
Interesting take. Hadn’t thought of that and wouldn’t put it past them because I said I for one will not go and they will be constantly requiring cast members to enforce it. Your just asking for trouble. People have caused problems over little things after being there all day. My family and I went to Lowry Park this past weekend and the parking lot was a normal day. As we walked around it wasn’t packed but seemed to be like any other non special event day. That is where these capacity rules for theme parks are absurd though I understand those, but even at 50% capacity they are still “busy”. Disney especially. As for the masks it wasn’t required outside only requested as it shouldn’t be. I predict Disney will quietly relax those restrictions in the coming weeks. I presume that is to pass the local government authority.
more hand sanitizer stations and hand washing stations im fine with- Masks in the Florida humidity not a fan at ALL
I think attendance is going to be way down with these foolish rules about wearing masks. Also, how long are they going to enforce this rule? I am not booking a trip until they say when this mandate will end.
Masks are going to cause more problems in the hot Florida sun.I see many cancellations, including mine.
Disney needs to do a little more research on this virus and masks. Don’t drink the kool-aid.
AMEN!! You are correct!
Disney is following recommendations from the CDC. They are following such guidelines to protect the guests and cast members. They are far from being the only company to require people to wear masks. There are a lot of unknowns with this virus and Disney can only do so much to keep the magic alive and everyone safe. If you don’t like it, don’t go. So in the meantime, feel free to enjoy the comfort of your home and a refreshing glass of kool-aid while you wait for the pandemic to be over.
I agree. I don’t think this mask thing will last long when they realize everyone wants to wait until they don’t have to wear one. It will be interesting to see how many people pass out on a daily basis. I don’t think the other poster understands what drinking the koolaid means lol.
