Today, Disney World proposed their phased reopening plan to the Orange County Task Force, with a proposed reopening date of July 11th for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, with EPCOT and Hollywood Studios to follow on July 15th.

Prior to the parks’ intended reopening, though, Disney World plans to reopen their Disney Vacation Club Resort hotels starting on June 22nd, along with Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds.
A recent email sent to Disney Vacation Club members shed light on reopening plans for Disney Vacation Club members and guests, including resort protocols that will be in place when the hotels reopen.

In their email, Disney confirmed that they expected to reopen Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and Disney’s Hilton Head Resort on June 15th, with all Disney Vacation Club properties at Disney World Resort planned to reopen on June 22nd.

Disney Vacation Club also outlined some of the additional measures and enhanced cleaning that guests can expect when they stay at the reopened Disney Vacation Club Resort hotels. These include:
- Increased cleaning and sanitization in high-traffic areas
- New hand-sanitizing stations in key areas
- Physical distancing at restaurants, lobbies, pools, fitness centers and other public areas, including reducing capacity where appropriate
Additionally, “Like our Cast, all Members and guests will be asked to wear face coverings in public resort areas when not eating or drinking and to respect physical distancing. Members and guests are also strongly encouraged to check in remotely through the My Disney Experience app, frequently wash their hands and use cashless payment options.”

Notably, Disney Vacation Club has also announced an updated points banking policy.
“Finally, as part of our continued efforts to provide flexibility during these uncertain times, we are further changing and extending our temporary policies regarding expiring points. April, June and now August, September and October 2019 Use Year points that are set to expire in 2020 and that were used for reservations during the closure period will be extended for one year from the current expiration date. Additionally, April, June and now August, September and October 2018 Use Year points that were banked into 2019 Use Years and used for these reservations will now all expire November 30, 2020. This temporary policy only includes expiring points that were used to book a stay arriving between March 12 and the end of the closure period and that involve a reservation cancelled after February 29.”
More information on these policies can be found on the Disney Vacation Club official website.
Stay tuned as we bring new updates from the reopening of Disney World, as well as the Disney World Resort Hotels.

I am looking for any advice you can give. I contacted the SVP of DVC in May regarding my 6/29 to 7/13 trip with 2018 banked points expiring 11/30. I did receive back a letter stating had no access to my info but would have someone call me to see what may be done. They gave me no more options than the DVC 800 number did. I was asked by letter (since I was checking in before parks opened) if I wanted to cancel I did. I received back my borrowed point and 2019 points. The issue, NYC is under a mandatory 14 day quarantine in Florida. The parks begin opening two days before I leave. Last I heard pools are not open. Mom is in a wheelchair and there is limited transport. I am a school teacher and can only travel for an extended period at certain times. My son leaves for Vet School in August and this was is send off. All I asked was an extension of the points till 12/31. I wanted them to exchange my 2018 banked with the 2019 banked I used for the December trip. Anything you or readers can recommend I do next would be appreciated. Thank you.
