ABC’s American Idol Lineup Impacted By Studio Closures

In the wake of studio closures and production schedules being halted, ABC has to make adjustments to their “regularly scheduled programming,” including shows that are in the middle of their seasons.

These adjustments also raise questions about the future of the American Idol, which was about to enter the live portion of their season.

According to Laughing Place, reports have emerged with signs that ABC is exploring options on how to proceed with the live shows for their popular singing competition, American Idol. At this moment, ABC has pre-recorded episodes of the series that have yet to air.

Episodes that were previously scheduled to air on March 29 and 30, “The Top 40 Showcase” (which was filmed at Disney’s Aulani Resort!) will now air on March 29 and April 5. The March 30 time slot will instead include re-runs of other ABC programs. April 6, which was originally slated to be the first date with live episodes, will also be filled instead with re-runs of other ABC shows.

At this time, all remaining contestants for this season were sent home, as well as crew members, who are working remotely. It is unclear how ABC will proceed beyond these next couple of weeks, although reports indicate that a plan will be shared “as soon as it is in place.”
