Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Believe it or not, the first ever Earth Day was on April 22, 1970! Twenty-five years after that in 1995, Disney founded the Disney Conservation Fund to further the mission of protecting our planet.

Disney has always had a love for nature, but codified it in 1995.

Now you can celebrate Earth Day’s 50th anniversary at Disney’s Animal Kingdom with a multi-day celebration, culminating in an all-day extravaganza on Earth Day itself!

The event will kick off on April 18th, lasting through Earth Day on April 22nd! For the whole festival, there will be special tours, limited-edition food and beverage, photo ops, and special activities for kids. You can meet some of Disney’s animal experts, educators, and conservation advocates at the Theater of the Wild  in the Wild by Nature Speaker Series. There will also be special appearances from National Geographic photographers, sharing never-before-scene footage.

It’ll be one wild party!

You can also meet Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde, one of the leads behind the Animal Kingdom park, at the Tiffins Talks event. Reservations open February 18th for this four-course meal that will allow you to learn all about Rohde’s research trips and explorations!

The celebration will also feature an early look at this year’s Disneynature films, Elephant and Dolphin Reef, along with a chance to meet the film’s producer, Roy Conli.

While you’re celebrating, you can also hear Stories from the Field from 25 global wildlife heroes, many of which will be featured in the new Disney Conservation Legacy book, available for purchase in the park. You’ll also be able to draw exclusive characters at the Animation Experience at Conservation Station!

Finally, if you can’t make it to the park, you can catch a glimpse of the celebrations on April 22nd during BORN WILD: EARTH DAY LIVE on National Geographic and Nat Geo WILD, taking a tour of some of the most amazing places in the world.
