Get Those Acceptance Speeches Ready – the 2020 Oscar Nominations Are Here!

It’s that time of year: award season is here! Early this morning, the 92nd Academy Awards nominations were announced, celebrating films and artists that will compete for the top prize in the ceremony, airing Sunday, February 9!

This year, there are nine films competing for the top prize of Best Picture. One of those films, Joker, also holds the distinction of having the most nominations for this year, with eleven nominations in total.

As for the Disney Oscars news: nominee for Best Animated Picture, Toy Story 4was the only Disney film nominated in that category. This might come as a surprise for many who believed that Frozen 2 was likely to earn a nomination. However, fans of the Disney flick will be happy to see that the hit song from Frozen 2, “Into the Unknown”, did pick up a nod for Original Song.

Disney films also had a strong showing for Visual Effects, with Avengers: EndgameThe Lion King, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker all nominated.
