Construction Updates: A Salute To All Things Epcot but Mostly The Regal Eagle

The evolution of Walt Disney World’s Epcot continues, and today we’ve got a bunch of construction updates to bring to you.

*dun dun dun dun dun dun dun DAH dun…*

That’s right! The ongoing transformation of Epcot continues with Regal Eagle progress, new signage, and updates on the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy coaster!

The Regalest of Eagles

Earlier this week, we reported that Sam the Eagle from The Muppets would be the host and mascot for the soon-to-open Regal Eagle Smokehouse in the American Adventure pavilion.

Although the restaurant was originally scheduled to open last December,  construction is continuing on the exterior.

Regal Eagle Exterior Progress

In a rarity for Disney, workers were visible above the walls as they continued work on the facade of this new eatery. We’re not sure if the new molding will remain gray or be painted to match the molding of the rest of the pavilion, but we’re glad to see some big changes since our last update.

The new smokehouse will blend in seamlessly with the surrounding aesthetic.

The official menu has also been posted for the Regal Eagle, so expect it to open its doors for business soon!

Signs of Change in France

January 17, in addition to being the opening for the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, will also see the premier of four new films in the Park! One of which will be the Beauty and the Beast Singalong, located in the Palais du Cinema in the France Pavilion.

Fortunately for fans of Impressions de France, this new show won’t be replacing the classic film. Instead, the Palais du Cinema will be pulling double duty, alternating between the two shows.

To accommodate this, a new digital sign has been posted at the entrance!

Practical and elegant!

The new signage will display both the current film and the time until the next show. Of course, we wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to stay in place for a double feature.

Speaking of New Films

Awesome Planetalso premiering on the 17th, has some awesome new signage! The full Awesome Planet poster has been installed along with a digital display showing minutes until the next show.

I still miss the old show, but I guess that’s just part of the circle of life.

They’ve also updated the sign at the entrance of The Land pavilion to advertise the new film.

It’s sure to be a draw to the already popular pavilion.

Entrance Updates

Yesterday, we reported on the return of the Great Wall of Epcot. Fortunately, we’ve found a way to get another look at construction here (and everyone can catch this peek!). Thank you, Highway in the Sky!

MONORAIL! MONORAIL! MONORAAAAAIL!

Yes, thanks to the Epcot Monorail, it’s possible to see what’s going on behind those walls.

Right now? Not a whole lot.

We happened to get a shot while they were preparing to pressure wash the area, so it’s not exactly riveting, but there are some additional views of parking construction we got from the platform!

Things are getting busy over there.
Yellow dirt, the color of progress.

We’ll keep an eye from the sky as construction continues.

Cool Wash Construction

It feels like this place just reopened, but now Cool Wash is under construction AGAIN.

Now I’ll need to add pop rocks to my OWN slushies…

We’ll let you know when it reopens.

Cosmic Rewind Construction

The biggest attraction coming to Epcot, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, is seeing some major work.

That building has been looming over Future World forever.

We can see work being done on the facade and queue building.

It’ll be looking extraterrestrial soon!
It looks like work on the exterior areas has also started.
You can spot some scaffolding from a distance.

It seems like they’re going into the theming phase of construction. We’ll have more updates as they come.

That’s it for this edition of the Epcot Construction Update! What are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments!
