Epcot Construction Update: Main Entrance and Innoventions West Photo Tour

Epcot, we love you, even when you’re knee deep in the hoopla of your epic, multi-year transformation.

And right now, the Park’s main entrance (which has been a work in progress for a while already) and Innoventions West are sort of a mess of construction walls. Shall we tour them? It’s hard hat time!

Epcot Main Entrance Construction

At present, Epcot’s main entrance is actually better off than it was just a few weeks ago. There are moveable screening hedges and construction walls up around the fountain (seen below on the left).

These are definitely disruptive for traffic entering the Park, but because the left side of the main entrance is relatively free of obstructions as of about 1.5 weeks ago, things are looking up a bit.

The current view from the left side looks a little like this: wall around the fountain, space for people to flow by toward Spaceship Earth. Also general ugh-ness because we just want the work to be finished!

Looking back toward Spaceship Earth gives you a bit of a clearer view of the extent of the construction right now.

We’ll keep updating as work progresses. There’s no end date for this work, and perhaps Disney won’t even make that announcement when it’s time. But we’ll let you know what’s going on so you can plan your trips this year.

Meanwhile, in part of Innoventions West… construction walls are up as the portion of the building that used to house Fountain View is being demolished (slowly) to make way for Moana’s Journey of Water.

The walls feature the popular way finder and implore guests to “Begin your journey.” Certainly we will, just as soon as the construction is over! 😉

Guests can still pass through Innoventions West to get to the Land, Seas, and Imagination pavilions, and at present characters are still meeting in the other portion of the building (though we anticipate they’ll be moving soon — see where Mickey’s going).

In case you’re a dreamer, here’s a look at the concept art for the portions of the Park that will become World Celebration and World Nature.

Construction also continues on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the PLAY! Pavilion, Space 220, Regal Eagle Smokehouse, and more. So it goes without saying: we’ll be back with more for you soon!
