New Fairy Tale Show from The Creators of Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time….wait, sorry that was a different show. There is a new show from the creators of Once Upon A Time, also set in a fairy tale realm, in the works at ABC, and it sounds Epic.

The creators of the Disney-themed ABC hit, Once Upon A Time — Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz — are teaming up with one of the writers from the show — Brigette Hales — for the new show. Before they worked on Once Upon A Time, Kitsis and Horowitz worked on another cult show filled with twists and flashbacks: Lost. Before working on Once Upon A Time, Hales wrote the Hulu show 11.22.63 based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. So these folks know they’re way around drama.

Their new show, called Epic, will be set in a Once-like mystical land and focus on the shape of love and forms of love. We won’t be seeing Captain Hook or Regina in this one but will instead be getting new princesses, heroes, and villains. Based on early reports, it sounds like the setting will be an enchanted forest and feature some familiar Disney themes and conflicts.

Hopefully Epic is exactly that: epic, with a vast magical realm and a cast of colorful characters that make us say “Snow who?” It would be great for them to give the characters in Epic the same level of backstory they gave them in Once Upon A Time and Lost. They showed that as far as most villains are concerned, they are the heroes of their own stories, not the bad guys (and gals). We’d love to see more of that kind of character development in a fabulous setting!

What type of fairy tale characters do you want to see in  Epic? Let us know in the comments.
