Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life Awakenings and Discovery Island to Feature New Holiday Decor and Events

We are learning a little more about the holiday decor and events taking place in Animal Kingdom this year. Previously, we learned there will be new holiday entertainment and decor in every land in the park — including Pandora. Now, we are learning more details about the holiday decor and happenings in the Discovery Island area of the park.

As you enter Discovery Island you will be entering a celebration of winter.

You will find sparkling white holiday decorations all around, animal inspired luminaries on the rooftops, and wire frame lanterns in the shape of birds in the area. Plus, there will be life-size, artisan-sculpted puppets exploring the land during the day. The puppets, representing reindeer, foxes, polar bears, penguins, and more, will be accompanied by serenading musicians and interact with you.

During the evening Discovery Island will glow as the luminaries and lanterns are lit — and that isn’t all. The Tree of Life will “awaken” and tell a series of wintery tales. Between the awakenings the Tree of Life will shimmer and sparkle.

  1. I think anything the parks do to make it more Christmassy and festive is a big plus! I love Animal Kingdom at night so I can’t wait to see this. Not sure if the white animals are going to exactly scream “holidays” but it’s better than nuttin’!
