We all know change is hard. In order for newer, bigger, better attractions to open, sometimes this means closing those that have run their course — but that doesn’t make it any easier.
On some level, we understand why Snow White’s Scary Adventures, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and The Great Movie Ride had to close — but that doesn’t make us any less sad!
With all of the exciting changes happening in Walt Disney World, we can’t help but wonder if the upcoming changes (and more in the future) will affect some of our favorite attractions. These attractions may not be the headliners, but they are ones we hold near and dear to our hearts! So we plead…
Dear Disney, please do not close these four attractions!
1. Muppet Vision 3-D
Muppet Vision 3-D rarely has a line and has barely changed since its debut in 1991, but we can’t help but love it! The pre-show is hilarious, thanks in large part to all of the hilarious props around the room. The show itself is also a treat, with classic Muppet gags and humor — not to mention the animatronics of Statler and Waldorf that heckle Kermit and his friends.
Muppet Vision 3-D is located very near the future entrance to Galaxy’s Edge so we fear if they ever choose to expand the Star Wars land, that could mean goodbye to Miss Piggy, Sam Eagle, and Rizzo. But for now the Muppets are safe — and we hope it stays that way!

2. Carousel of Progress
First designed for the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, Carousel of Progress follows a family through the 20th century, as they discuss how technology and progress influence their lives.
The animatronics may not be revolutionary any more, but they were certainly groundbreaking when they debuted. Not to mention the fact that Walt himself worked on the original version, and it’s the longest running stage show in American history. While there is hardly a wait now, this attraction is chock full of history and subtle humor for the adults.
Carousel of Progress is a national treasure and I will personally riot if it closes. (OK, maybe that is a bit dramatic, but you get my point!)

3. Living with the Land
Sure, learning about plants and aquaculture on a slow-moving boat ride sounds more like a science field trip than a theme park ride, but Living with the Land is truly a treat! You get an u-close and personal look at some of Epcot’s greenhouses — and chances are if you eat vegetables during your Disney trip (especially in Epcot) you’re eating plants grown in the Land. That is pretty darn amazing!
Living with the Land is educational yet fun, and the statistics are mindboggling. We will be really sad if they ever take this one out — we know Epcot is going through a transformation, but please, leave the Land alone!

4. Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage!
Beauty and the Beast is one of the most beloved Disney animated classics of all time, and the stage show has been at Hollywood Studios since 1991. In fact, the stage show is the only attraction to ever debut the same day as the film it’s based on.
While 28 years is a very long run time for a show, we would be really sad to see this one go! The costumes, the music, the live performances — I love it all! And, even though I’ve seen it dozens of times, I still tear up at the end. Now, if Disney feels the need to upgrade the show, with perhaps new costumes or presentation of the Enchanted Objects, I am all for it. But I hope there isn’t a day any time soon when the Tale as Old as Time isn’t playing on Sunset Boulevard!

My fear is always they will want to close down The Three Cabellaros – I would be CRUSHED! My daughters (now in their 20s) and I have sooo many great memories with that ride – as well as with C of P, LWTL, Muppets and all the rest. And we are still mourning the loss of Norway’s original ride…
When they stopped having the live host on LWTL I began fearing it wasn’t long before it joined Yesterland and I hope I’m wrong about that and the pre-recorded narration keeps costs down enough to keep the ride afloat (yeah pun intended). I’d also hate to see COP removed though an update to it and Muppet Vision might work.
I could do without B&B stage show to be honest.
Carousel of Progress is a foundation ride cant remove it. Living with the land is one of my all time favorite Disney rides. Muppet Vision needs to have a new movie made. Don’t lose the muppets just make a new film with new technology. Prim”evil” whirl is a horrible carny fair ride that beats the tar out of you. Redo that whole area keep Dinosaur ride and theme just get rid of the county fair garbage. Beauty and the beast EH? just another Disney stage show. I can watch Live Action B&B on Disney+. Get rid of it make
room bring back something we miss. And while were at it get rid of Indiana Jones and put Lights Motors Action in its spot. Tha attraction was always full.
I love Carousel of Progress (and have since I first rode it at the New York World’s Fair in 1964) but it is not the “longest running stage show in American history” since – at least in the theater world – you’ve got to have live performers to be a stage show. Every time I go on COP and they say this I laugh. And I’m the only person who does so – lol. Thank you for advocating for Carousel of Progress. Long may it live!
COP and LWTL are absolute essentials for us!! My family WOULD riot if anything happened to either, especially COP!!! “It’s a great big beautiful tomorrow….” ❤️❤️

Please don’t close the carousel of progress!! It just would not be Disney without it!! We go at least three times during a trip and it is a historical link to Walt!

Every time these articles come up I think the same thing – why doesn’t WDW have a”Retro” park? Sort of an Island of Misfit Toys for old attractions. I rode C of P twice last year, alone because my daughter and grandkids had no interest. So yeah, I’d be willing to fly down for the riot!
I think each park should retain at least one thing that reflects on the park at its opening. For Epcot that is Living with the Land. That’s the one thing in Future World of Epcot that reminds you of the original purpose of Epcot. In Hollywood Studios it’s the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. While not an opening day attraction it’s the only thing left that reminds you of the original purpose of Disney-MGM studios. It’d be nice if they kept that as a reminder of what it once was. Magic Kingdom has a few. One I might add to the list is the Enchanted Tiki Room. There’s a lot of history there as that was Disney’s first use of animatronics.
I’m all for keeping up with the times. I love Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for instance. Flights of Passage is another amazing experience. But there are a few classics that I’d like to see WDW keep as well. Some classics can be updated. Space Mountain’s updating several years back was well done and much needed IMO. As someone else noted I’d keep Carousel of Progress but keep the last scene updated. Others like the Jungle Cruise for instance I’d leave alone as a classic opening day attraction.
If they ever did away with Living with the Land I don’t think I would ever darken the doors of Disney ever again! It’s one of the last things left that I loved about my first visit and one of the few truly “Disney” feeling rides. I don’t want an update, I don’t want anything modernized. Just leave it alone! I would also like to see the last scene of CoP updated to match current times because it’s supposed to. I also think they need to recover the seats and make it look not so much like a run down creepy dirty movie house in there. I think it would re-gain some popularity if it wasn’t so rickety looking in there and stale.

Please keep the Country Bear Jamboree (Walt’s Last Laugh)! I’m all good for updating old vignettes, but closing the attraction permantently would be a serious cultural loss.

I think Indiana Jones will eventually be endangered, since it is labor intensive, and some of the cast members have to have specialty training.
I would say the Land would be endangered but not sure what else they could put there without destroying the green houseds
Carousel of Progress= Walt’s Favorite. Muppetvision= Last Appearances of Jim Henson and Richard Hunt. They should never close based on that.
Primeval Whirl and Muppet Vision 3-D both need to go. Primeval Whirl is just plain bad, and Muppet Vision is stale and outdated. It would break my heart to lose the others on this list, though!
SACRILEGE! the muppets NEED to remain forever! i wish they would upgrade the tech and sound to digital, it would help it look a lot better

I agree on all of these except Primevil Whirl (spelling intentional). While I actually quite like Dino-land, and Chester and Hester’s, I have had nothing but terrible experiences on that ride. It’s the only ride at Disney that has ever actually injured me! A friend lost a phone trying to keep herself from hitting her head! It’s TERRIBLE.
That said, the rest of your suggestions are all always on my must do list! I’d also add the Peoplemover. I have yet to introduce someone to it who didn’t love it!

Love Living with the Land, it is old style Epcot. My one tiny Carousel of Progress request is modern clothing for the last vignette. They are in early 90s acid washed jeans with scrunch socks and an ugly dad sweater. How hard is it to change their clothing?
