Are you, like me, both a Disney addict AND a Game of Thrones fan? I’m sure there must be a few of us out there!

This groundbreaking television series of conflict and intrigue among the ruling families of Westeros and Essos is about as far from a Disney film as you can imagine. And yet, as it winds down to the final few episodes, I find that there are some correlations and many of the show’s important figures have traits also found in some Disney characters, which leaves me wondering:
Which Disney character should sit on the Iron Throne? Who has what it takes to be king or queen of the Seven Kingdoms?
We don’t know yet (just TWO more episodes!) who will ultimately win the Game of Thrones on TV, but please indulge me while I have a little fun exploring this idea…
Obviously we’d like to see a character on the Iron Throne who is both strong and worthy, fair-minded and just. Someone as noble as Ned Stark or Jon Snow. Mickey Mouse immediately comes to mind. He’s been a king and a prince, even a sorcerer and a leader (of the club…), so he can rule and knows how to use special powers. Well, sort of.
But let’s face it. He’s probably a little too nice to be a match for any of the Lannisters, the Targaryens or even the Starks.
So then, who?
Some of the truly villainous Disney villains, like Jafar or Hades, undoubtedly would give Cersei Lannister a run for her money! The thing is, once they beat her, then we’d have to deal with them and their tyranny. And that’s just the sort of thing I think all Game of Thrones fans are hoping the Seven Kingdoms can avoid.
No, I think we have to look for someone who’s not quite as terrible as Maleficent or Ursula the Sea Witch, but who’s tougher and maybe a little more devious than an ordinary hero like Flynn Rider or Woody from Toy Story.
What about Mr. and Mrs. Incredible? He’s super strong, she’s super-smart, they are super-human, in fact. And they’ve been known to bend the rules, if not outright break the law — I mean, being a Super was outlawed, wasn’t it? Plus, the whole family is incredible (pardon the pun), as is their friend Frozone, whose icy abilities could prove useful to the King in the North. With their combined strength and unique super-powers they should be able to conquer anything Cersei or the Iron Fleet sends their way, shouldn’t they?
Then again, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack are just children, and we really wouldn’t want to subject them to such a fate, would we? I mean, look at the lives that Sansa, Arya and Bran Stark have had to endure.
What about Maui from Moana? He’s a demi-god, after all — he should be able to rule mere mortals without a hitch. Now that he’s got his hook back and working, there should be no stopping him, whether he’s dealing with the nefarious plots of the House of Lannister, or the brute strength of the dragon of Daenerys Targaryen.

Maui’s been known to be a little underhanded himself — remember that maneuver he pulled to steal Moana’s boat out from under her? — so I think he’d be able to figure out a way to deceive and ultimately outwit Cersei AND Dany both! However, he’s also given up and run away when the going’s gotten tough, so maybe he’s not the right choice.
Hercules? He’s strong, sure, and also has godly connections, but he’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer — I think Cersei would walk all over him just like Meg did.
The Beast? While he’s in Beast mode, maybe. But once he turns into Prince Adam, I think it’s game over.
Aladdin? Maybe. He’s certainly clever enough, street-smart and charismatic. He might be able to command several armies and get control of the throne. If only he hadn’t used his last wish to free the Genie, he’d be a shoe-in!

Maybe I need to think outside the animated character realm. What about Captain Jack Sparrow? Cagey, resourceful, and resilient — all qualities that would get him far in Westeros. Plus, not unlike Game of Thrones’ Little Finger and Varys, Captain Jack seems to shift teams depending on who and what is in his best interest. That moral ambiguity would serve him well. With his charisma and ability to lead legions of unsavory pirates, he just might have what it takes to reach the Iron Throne. The thing is, Captain Jack likes to be free — he wouldn’t want to be confined to staying in one place and while he would love all the loot that would come with being king, I don’t think he’d be willing to stick around to rule.
Wait, wait, wait… I have it. I know EXACTLY which Disney character has what it takes to win and eventually sit on the Iron Throne. A ruler who would be fair, just and powerful enough to maintain control over the Seven Kingdoms, for sure.
She’s smart, there’s no doubt.
She has no problem isolating herself, and focusing on the task at hand.
She has grit and is as determined as a person attempting to unseat Cersei, or vanquish Dany, would need to be. That single-mindedness also means that she wouldn’t fall for Jon Snow’s considerable charms.
She’s already used to ruling — she is, after all, a queen.
And do I even need to add that she has magical powers? The kind of powers that one would need to destroy an icy Night King (if he hadn’t already been taken care of — sorry, spoiler!) or even a fire-breathing dragon. As an added benefit, she doesn’t mind when Winter is coming… or is here, for that matter.
Because… the cold never bothered her anyway.
Of course, I’m talking about Elsa.
Can’t you just see her hurling ice bolts and frozen fractals at Drogon the dragon as he attacks? And can’t you imagine Cersei’s surprise when she tries to go head to head with Elsa and finds that our Disney queen can be just as cold as she is?
With the steadfast support of her sister, Anna, with loyal friends like Olaf and Kristoff, not to mention the army of Arendelle, Queen Elsa seems to me to be just the right person to sit on the Iron Throne and serve as the benevolent ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.
And maybe Jon Snow would come courting later. You never know!
So what do you think? I know it’s kind of ridiculous, but would Elsa be your Disney pick to sit on the Iron Throne? If not, who would be? Drop us a note in the comments!

Goofy. Because that is what the last episode was.
There is only one answer, and that answer is the only Disney princess who killed a guy.
That’s Mulan.
