Exactly how does one go about getting a National Day named after something? Is there a government agency called the Federal Bureau of National Days? And how does one get a great national day declared an even more impressive World Wide day? Can I send in a few nominations? Or how bout save some time and money and just have on wild day called National Everything day.
No government agency is involved in these wacky “holidays.” While Congress and the president have approved and made official holidays like Thanksgiving and Mothers Day, many of these days and months are named and promoted by organizations and trade groups. If you want to spend a few amusing hours learning about things like National Pig Day or National Clean Out Your Inbox Week, then visit your public library and ask to see their copy of Chase’s Calendar of Events. Feel free to make up your own holiday and submit it!
