The Best PhotoPass Opportunities in Walt Disney World

There are so many opportunities to use your PhotoPass Memory Maker around Walt Disney World. I mean, you want to document every moment of your Disney trip… right?

Below, we have listed a few of the best PhotoPass opportunities that Walt Disney World is currently offering.

  • Tangled Lantern

Disney PhotoPass cast members take these photos in front of the Tangled-themed restrooms in Fantasyland. Sounds weird, I know… BUT these pictures are super cute.

The lantern that you pose with glows as dozens of other lanterns illuminate in the background. This is a perfect couple photo, and it is also cute as an individual shot!

Note: These pictures are only available after sunset.

  • Alice in Wonderland Lantern

Stop by the Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland to find this nighttime photo opportunity. The Alice in Wonderland lantern is a newer offering that was originally introduced during Disney Vacation Club’s Moonlight Magic, but Disney recently started offering it to everyone. I personally love Alice in Wonderland and just about had a panic attack when I saw the lantern because it is so cute!

The lantern pairs perfectly with the attraction’s lanterns and teacups in the background. The lighting in the photos comes out really nice as well!

  • Tinker Bell Lantern

Glowing props and lanterns must be the new craze or something.  This adorable photo op features Tink inside of a lantern. Her silhouette is illuminated inside as the lantern glows.

This PhotoPass opportunity has moved around a bit. It has been spotted at both Magic Kingdom and Epcot. The most recent location I found it at was in Epcot’s UK Pavilion near Alice’s meet-and-greet location.

This is also only offered at night since this is another glowing prop.

  • The Haunted Mansion Courtyard

When exiting Haunted Mansion, you may sometimes spot a Disney PhotoPass cast member. The photo op here will likely include the mansion in the background or other iconic features of Haunted Mansion’s courtyard queue area. The photographer may even offer a few Magic Shots… so throw up your hitchhiking thumbs and give this photo op a try!

This is also a fun one to be on the lookout for during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Often Disney adds even more haunting Magic Shots and photo locations.

  • The Journey of the Little Mermaid Bridge

This is another one of my favorites to take at night, especially during Happily Ever After. I mean, Disney at night… with fireworks… so pretty! Usually, there will be a PhotoPass cast member near the entrance of the Journey of the Little Mermaid attraction in Fantasyland.

The photo is pretty and the area can tend to be rather empty at night. So, after you take the photo, you can hop on the ride or head over to Gaston’s Tavern for a giant cinnamon roll!

  • France Bridge in Epcot

This is another really sweet PhotoPass opportunity, especially for couples. When the sun starts to set PhotoPass cast members usually make their way over to the bridge that connect the France and UK pavilions in Epcot.

The cast member will likely pose you to where the Eiffel Tower peeks through in the background of the photo. So… this is a super sweet spot to give your love or little ones a kiss on the cheek!

  • Japan Pavilion

The Japan Pavilion at Epcot is another great PhotoPass spot. This picture will give you a view of the Epcot ball through Disney’s version of the Great Torii Gate.

This is a great place to pose with the entire family. It allows you to have a super cool view of Epcot from a not-so-basic angle. Totally still get that Epcot ball picture though… because, how can you not?

  • Tower of Terror View from Sunset Blvd.

OK, I know… this is a pretty well-known photo op. But Disney has jazzed this PhotoPass opportunity up a bit lately and I love it even more now. If you have the chance when visiting Hollywood Studios to take this pic, do it! Lately, Disney has had a luggage prop for guests to use in their photos. Quite fitting as you walk to check into the Hollywood Tower Hotel, right?

I don’t know that the prop is always offered, so if you see it you should totally ask to take a pic with it!

  • Expedition Everest Bridge

Like lanterns, I guess I also favor bridges. They let you see so much more and they typically lend an incredible background and view of the parks. SO another one of my favorite photo spots is what I like to call the Expedition Everest bridge. You will likely walk this bridge as you leave Expedition Everest and head toward Finding Nemo – The Musical.

A PhotoPass cast member should be in this spot during the day. When taking a picture here you should have a full view of the Expedition Everest attraction in your background. Pretty neat huh? You’ll also see water and lots of greenery. It’s such a great picture! (We don’t have an actual PhotoPass photo of this view, but our photographer friend Scott Thomas doesn’t do too bad a job, does he? Check out the Picture This! blog for more of his great Disney photos and photography tips!)

  • Hakuna Matata Scene

To help celebrate  the 25th anniversary of “The Lion King,” Disney has added a Lion King photo op to Animal Kingdom. The spot features Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa. Taken from the Hakuna Matata musical number, this scene is too cute to not snap a photo with.

You can find it across from Tiffins, before you enter Pandora — The World of Avatar.

Disney’s PhotoPass photographers are all around the parks, plus a number of rides feature an on-ride photo op, so there are tons of chances to get some great photographic souvenirs. These are just some of our favorites – have we missed any of yours?
