Contributing photographer Jason of disneygeek.com sends us these photos from his trip to the parks on Friday, January 27, 2012.
In Downtown Disney, Island Charters has closed. Rumor I heard is the Lego store will be moving in here while some renovations are done to its building.

There is some pavement work going out outside of Catal.

La Brea Bakery work is continuing.

More scaffolding and some mesh/tarps up on the Matterhorn as its renovation project moves along.

The Autopia was closed, no visible signs of why. Just all the cars parked and bunch of Cast Members standing around the load area waiting.

Looks like a new canopy will be going on the queue.

Some Matterhorn shots from the Monorail platform.

From the monorail to Downtown Disney here’s a look at the end of the Red Car line on Buena Vista Street in DCA.

And a look at Oswalds

There is some work going on at the transportation center (shuttle area off of Harbor)

Looking south now you can see the rail is in for the Red Car.

Lunar New Year was being celebrated in the Small World Mall. This marked the final weekend of the two week celebration.

Mushu was out for pictures.

A local dance group performing (I missed the name).

A brief video clip from their performance.
A guest artist, Agnes Eng

A couple video clips of another group performing.
Mulan and Mushu arrived and did a brief performance as they came out for pictures.

Small World is closed as the holiday decorations are being removed.

The Toontown Train Depot has reopened.

Out on Tom Sawyer Island they are working on the Fantasmic! dragon again. So some barriers up around the pit.

Wait times around 4:20pm.

The Dapper Dans performing at the Flag Retreat (no band since it is off season).

Over to DCA where the facade just past Mater’s has been coated now.

The parade speakers have been removed…

Looking down Route 66 you can see they have some of the neon on.

They were testing Maters. Here is a montage of clips of the testing (from Friday and Saturday).
A couple of Imagineers on board for a test ride.

At Paradise Pier the scaffolding is down and you can see the new facade for the former Man Hat’n’Beach store. Looks much cleaner without the giant clown.

The scaffolding is also down around the far side (facing the Maliboomer park area)

There was about a 25-minute wait for the Fun Wheel so by the time I was on it was pretty dark.
Which was perfect so I could see the neon and lights in Cars Land!

Mater’s lit up for the evening.

Looking toward the Paradise Pier Hotel I could see preparations for the Tinker Bell Half Marathon race on Sunday.

Back to ground level a look down Route 66 from the Blue Sky Cellar patio.

Stopped by the Blue Sky Cellar. They swapped out some of the Cars Land pictures in the display case at the end of the hallway.

As well as some concept art for the Mad “T” Party and Ghirardelli location “coming soon to Hollywood Land and Pacific Wharf.”

World of Color was canceled due to the high winds, as was Remember…Dreams Come True at Disneyland.

ElecTRONica was still rolling around. The large screen was not being used this evening.

At this point I headed back to the Disneyland Hotel for some pictures around the area and to call it a night. My Disneyland Hotel pictures will be in their own posting.
Hope you enjoyed this highlight tour of the Disneyland Resort. For additional photos and details from this trip you can check out the full Disneyland Update I posted on my site, http://disneygeek.com
I’ve never been to Disneyland or DCA (someday hopefully!), only WDW so I love seeing photos from these parks. While Cars isn’t one of my favorite movies I think Cars Land looks amazing! I want to get to Disneyland just to see it! It’s a great idea for an immersive environment and I wish WDW would build the same.
Anyway, thanks for the updates! Love them!
Thank you so much for sharing these pictures on the Allears website! I’m a Pennsylvania girl that grew up going to Disneyland every other year (family member was a cast member= free admission!!) Even though I’ve gone to Disney World now numerous times with my husband and family, Disneyland will always be my favorite park, and I’m SOOOO glad to see pictures of it because it feels SOOOOO far away!
