A Day at Aloha Isle and Epcot

I tried out the new Via Napoli Restaurant in Epcot’s Italy Pavilion with Marc Lorenzo (Walt Disney World Moms Panel) and his son Josiah. I’m on the left in the photo.

Ryan P. Wilson had alerted me to an image on the right side of the rear wall mural inside Via Napoli. It’s a wisp of cloud below the thin cloud string that connects two larger clouds. Marc and Josiah agreed that from a distance, the small cloud resembles a side profile of Mickey Mouse. Up close, I’m not so sure. What do you think?

As for the food at Via Napoli, Marc and Josiah declared the pizza to be good. In fact, they cleaned their plates!

I dropped in on Mike Scopa’s All Ears® meet at Aloha Isle in Adventureland, Magic Kingdom. In the photo from left are All Ears® team members Mike Scopa, Michelle Scribner-MacLean, Mike Bachand and me.

Later, Mike, Michelle and I stood in front of a Hidden Mickey made of plates on the wall behind us at Kouzzina Restaurant. Michelle is in front of Mickey’s “head.”

That evening, I felt honored to be able to attend an IllumiNations dessert party sponsored by the WDW Moms Panel. Since the weather was suspect, we congregated inside the World ShowPlace Events Pavilion (the previous Millennium Village Building), which stands behind a gate between the United Kingdom and Canada Pavilions in World Showcase. From the left in the photo are Liam (Michelle’s son), me, Michelle, Laura Spencer (a VIP with the WDW Moms Panel) and Mike Scopa.

We enjoyed ice cream and other delectable desserts, then were escorted to Showcase Plaza to be wowed (as always) by a spectacular IllumiNations fireworks show. In all, a memorable day for a Disney fan like me, wouldn’t you agree?

  1. At first, i didn’t see anything. After reading Jen’s comment, i can totally see her Heffalump vision 🙂 But i agree w/ the 2nd post, i think it’s just a little cloud wisp.

Love the mickey plate ears tho! Very cute 🙂

  2. Looks like a great day, Steve! I’d have to say that profile Mickey looks a bit ambiguous to me. It’s kind of cool that it looks like it could be Mickey, but my guess is the intention was just to paint a cloud wisp. Thanks for your hard Hidden Mickey-searching work! My whole family loves your book–for seasoned Disney vets like us, it adds new moments of discovery to each trip.

  3. Steve,

When I look closely at the image on the wall at Via Napoli, it looks more like an image of a heffalump from Winnie the Pooh. That may be a stretch but it definitely peeked my interest. I guess I will just have to force myself to take a peek while I’m visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth in 14 days!!!! 🙂
