My wife, Julie, and I spent another day at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival. And, that means another Eat to the Beat concert at the American Garden Theater in front of the American Adventure.
The second performer in the series was Richard Marx. Now, I have to admit that I wasn’t much of a Richard Marx fan, but wanted to see him perform mainly because my wife is a big fan of his. I had never seen him perform so my only connection with him was hearing a few of his songs on the radio.
Well, let me tell you I am so glad that I didn’t miss his concert. He was GREAT! What a performer, terrific voice and great music. We stayed for all three shows and all of them were packed. He has quite a following! He did change up the songs in each of the sets and he changed his shirt (his joke). When the night was over my wife had that “I told you so” look on her face and I have to admit she was so very right (as she alway is).
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Richard Marx, he is a pop/rock artist who had a number of hit songs in the late 80’s. He is still recording today and has just released a new album. Anyway, some of his hit songs are: Endless Summer Nights, Now And Forever, Should’ve Known Better and Angelia.
The other thing that may have contributed to the full house was the fact that Epcot was really, really crowded yesterday (Monday). Looks like lots of folks have showed up for the festival.
The familiar Eat to the Beat concert series sign that’s on the stage.
Please leave me a comment and tell me if you were there what you thought of the concert or what your memories are of the group or previous concerts. I love to get comments.

Well, that’s all for now. As my good friend says “see ya real soon”…DizneyMike
We saw Richard Marx at his last performance Tuesday night, and he was highly entertaining. He does great impressions and is quite funny as well as a great singer. We weren’t sure what to expect, with an 80’s star, voice-wise, but he definitely has still got it and we loved his final performance at Epcot, he rocks as well as Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival!!
Thank you so much for the great review and the awesome pictures. I too introduced my husband to richard’s music, and he became a big fan. Richard”s wit and talent make the show each and every time a memorable experience. If you ever get the chance, try and see Richard and Matt Scannell together. That DUO is one great team. And talk about interaction with the crowd! Those two are hysterical together, and their talent is awesome!
DizneyMike replies: Tamara, thanks for the comments. Hopefully we’ll get to see the two of them together in concert as some point….Mike
Hi Mike
Mark from the UK here. Met you in the queue for the second show (I think!) on the first night and had an interesting chat with you about the annual and dining passes.

DizneyMike replies: Thank you! More than likely we’ll be there for the first show. See you there….Mike
Mike,
Thanks for posting the pictures! They’re awesome! What great performaces!
I misplaced my 300′ zoom lens and then I left my camera and other lens in the car. So, for the first show all I had was my cell phone – nothing great ofcourse! Then for the 2nd show I left to go and get the camera in the car… so my pics are of the last show and they didn’t come out as great as yours!
If you have any more – I know we’d all be glad to see them! Thanks again for your postings!
Hi Mike
As always your blog is wonderful..We’ll be arriving in 2 weeks and can’t wait.. By the way as you spend alot of time in Epcot do you know is the Soaring ride is closed? I can’t seemed to find the answer.
Thanks again for keeping our Disney memories alive.
DizneyMike replies: Robin, thank you for the great comment! Yes, Soarin is up and running. I hope you have a great trip down here….Mike
Your blogs about the Eat to the Beat concerts remind me of one Flower Power concert I went to in 2002 during Flower & Garden Festival. It was John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, and I remember listening to them in high school. I even have an LP! 🙂 My then 10-yr old daughter went with me because I told her she had to (HA) but the rest of the family ditched us. We had a blast, and especially when the sax player walked through the audience playing his sax, and sat down next to us and played! My daughter is a sax player now, and perhaps this little incident contributed to her decision as to which instrument to play! 🙂
Thanks for the report. My husband and I will be there for the last week, so we’ll be able to see Billy Ocean and Los Lobos. Hopefully they are as good as Richard Marx!! Thanks again for the reports!
Hey Mike, great pictures. It was great sitting next to you and thanks for the beer!
DizneyMike replies: Frank, it was really nice meeting you and your wife! Tonight it’s your turn to buy the beer…Mike
Great pictures, Mike, and thanks for the report. Richard Marx was the first concert I was ever allowed to see when I was in middle school, so he holds a special place in my heart. You forgot to mention probably his best-known hit “Right Here Waiting” though (we pre-teen girls swooned over that one!). Again, thanks for the report and the photos 🙂 Sounds like you have a very smart wife (of course!) and you both had a great time.
